FINGERHEADS

MORE THAN JUST A PRETTY FACE ...

A portrait is more than just an image of someone's face. They are meant to show a persons character, their thoughts and their feelings summed up into an image. But it is often through the face that we are able to read, and project all of these ideas onto an image. As social beings, our minds have developed to a point where there are whole sections of it devoted to facial recognition and facial comprehension, in order for us to understand the social cues, emotional expressions and communication from others through their facial expressions. In fingerheads I wanted to replace the most identifiable feature of a person with another feature that is associated with identity. The finger print. Each person presented as an archetype that may or may not be true to who they are, and each persons head is replaced with an image of their own finger with the finger print visible.
